Using organizational patterns as a strategy for teaching expository writing in an introductory food science course

Organizational patterns can serve as a teaching strategy for instructors and learning tool students to develop their expository writing skills, which are commonly required assignments (for example, laboratory reports research papers) in Food Science courses future careers. The article discusses the importance of organizational through an interdisciplinary collaboration. collaboration occurred with professors from Science, English, Anthropology introductory course (FSCI 232) taught at California State University Long Beach (CSULB). In FSCI 232, learned how use interpret explain content infographic obtained Technology magazine, published by Institute Technologists (IFT). “Global Obesity's Expanding Girth, World is Getting Fatter” served visual stimulus help identify these patterns, focusing on inquiry analysis scientific data skills technical writing.
